Highlights from our summer concert series:
The summer was a sonorous success at Swissvale Library! Neighbors and community members gathered under the tree to spend Saturday afternoons with a wide variety of talented local musicians. There was something for every kind of music lover – jazz, bluegrass, rock, soul, folk, Latin, Americana, country and more. Many thanks to everyone who participated – as musician or audience member! Performed on 6/26 2:30: Louie Castle (singer/songwriter, jazz, in blues)
Louie Castle is a 23-year-old genre-fusing musician focusing on guitar and vocals. Inspired by the songwriters of today while paying homage to pioneers in funk, R&B and soul in a live setting. Expect timeless covers from Stevie Wonder to the Grateful Dead between original music.

Performed on 7/24 2:30: Ronni Weiss (American songbook, jazz)
Ronni Weiss has been singing and playing piano throughout her life. Her repertoire includes jazz standards, blues tunes, pop songs and some originals added in to create an eclectic mix that is sure to please. She has performed in a variety of venues around town and loves to play outside during the warmer months and loves the library!

Hailing from the cityscapes of Pittsburgh, Soul & Spoken Word songwriter/recording artist Jay Michaels began hitting the ground running in the music realm last year in 2017 and has manifested into a versatile, innovative and multifaceted performance act.

Teresa is an accomplished singer and entertainer who has served as an opening act for many notable musical groups, including The Whispers, Midnight Star, and the Delfonics.
Performed on 7/31 3:30: Matt Calvetti (original instrumental groove rock)
Matt is a Pittsburgh-based musician focusing primarily on instrumental music. His music is guitar-based and has unpredictable blends of folk, rock, jazz, and funk. He performs solo, as a trio, and is also a member of The New Mingle and The Westsylvanians.

We play originals and pop music, sort of like Sonny & Cher but in reverse and upside down. We are the lime and the coconut, deconstructed.

The OHM Project (which stands for ‘obscure hippie music’) plays original songs inspired in part by lesser-known but excellent songs from the ’60s and ’70s.

Come and experience the music and humor of what is becoming one of the most fun shows in town. Paz and Ukulele Eddie. An eclectic choice of genres and music from old to new. If you do not know or like a song, wait, one will come your way. Great vocals, rhythms, and off the cuff humor makes this a wonderful experience. Paz and Ukulele Eddie, Acoustic Music with a Smile!

The Deep Roots are an independent rock and roll band from Pittsburgh, PA. Their debut album, Never Coming Back, was released in October of 2020 and has been reviewed in national publications and listened to all over the world…over 3000 listens and counting. Guitarist, Mark Sullivan, blogs about music and other local subjects on the band’s website.

Average Joey is a folk songwriter living in Swissvale. Joey spent years traveling the country in various folk and punk bands connecting through a network of DIY artists and musicians. These days, Joey has been focusing on songwriting. His new release, “SHANDA”, is available on all platforms July 1!

Cathy has performed her unique blend of iconic Americana and original music for a wide variety of audiences in pubs and coffeehouses, fairs, concert halls, and churches — places where people who love music gather to listen or sing along to old favorites. Solo or with a band, she aims to lift spirits through positive, poignant, happy, and/or nostalgic songs.

Quatre: Four + Caterwaul: to utter long wailing cries = Quatrewaul: 4 singers wailing songs for the amusement and joy of all who are willing to listen.

Bésame specializes in music from all over Latin America, with emphasis on the amazing sounds of Colombia. Brought together by musical chance, Bésame combines the talents of Jorge Delgado (guitar/vocals), Paul Cindric (soprano sax/vocals), Melissa Alliston (percussion/vocals), Roger Day (tuba/vocals) and Phil Vasquez (percussion) to bring you a surprising variety of Latin styles and rhythms – no standard salsa/merengue from this crew!
